A Facilitation Process to
Transfer Leadership from Outgoing to Incoming Officers

Many student organizations lose momentum every year when new officers are elected and don’t receive crucial information about their jobs from the outgoing officers. Time and energy are wasted while the new officers operate in the dark and reinvent the wheel until they become comfortable in their new roles … and then it’s time for another group of leaders to come on board.

Start a new process now. Support your organization and officers in making a smooth leadership transition every year!

In this facilitation, old and new officers come together to share information about events, projects, jobs, resources and contacts to insure the smooth transition of leadership, year after year.

This time and energy-saving process will guarantee an efficient transfer of leadership by:

  • Introducing the new officers to the structure, functions, processes and responsibilities of the organization and its officers
  • Transferring office-specific duties, information, lines of communication, records and helpful tips to the new officers
  • Creating a year-long action plan for the new officers with goals, action steps, time lines, accountability and outcomes
  • Creating a personal self-care plan for new officers to maintain enthusiasm and avoid burnout
